Student Attack at Ohio State University Causes Mass Chaos

On Monday Nov. 28, panic aroused on the Ohio State University (OSU) campus after a male student had intentionally driven over multiple pedestrians and proceeded to evacuate the vehicle with a butcher knife in hand, slashing innocent walkers nearby. 11 people, both students and faculty included, were found injured after the attack; six had been run over and five had severe injuries due to the slashes.

The suspect, Abdul Artan, was found and fatally shot by a police officer within a minute of the attack. No evidence was found to state that it was an act made or supported by a terrorist organization, however his attack did resemble those previously made by the Islamic State. Authorities stated it is too soon to determine the motives behind Artan’s attack.

During the attack, many students fled for safety and found shelter in classroom corners and several used social media to share their safety and warn others to find their own. The school’s president stated that due to having attack plans and training, the school is incredibly tolerant and will  always be prepared for a possible attack. Schools classes had resumed on Tuesday after consideration of tolerance from OSU officials.
