Students Discuss TV Shows to Watch this Fall
Fall is prime time for major television networks as popular shows hit the air.
There is an overwhelming number of new shows coming out this fall, like “Speechless” or “Notorious,” as well as others. The shows students talk about most are “American Horror Story,” “Pretty Little Liars,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Stranger Things.”
“I like when a show has more of a vintage feel, so Stranger Things is really up my alley,” junior Madison Howe said.
“Stranger Things” is a Netflix Original about a boy disappearing, and the town looking for him. That’s where the title comes into play. Not everything is as it seems.
Many students are interested in the shows that are coming back around for another season, like “American Horror Story.” Each new season is essentially a brand new show, each one telling a new urban legend.
“I’m going to watch American Horror Story because I really want to see what people are talking about,” freshman Abby Smith said.
“Grey’s Anatomy” and “Pretty Little Liars” are also returning with more seasons, “Grey’s Anatomy” with its 13th. It’s amazing how the writers of “Grey’s Anatomy” can keep a show going so long and keep their viewers in an aura of mystery. “Pretty Little Liars” still manages to be suspenseful and creepy, even to those who have read the books by Sara Shepard. But it’s not just the plot that matters.
“An actor can make or break it. It’s like the sprinkles on the cake,” junior Juliette Danyal said.
A lot depends on the actors.
“With ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,’ I got invested because of Mariska Hargitay and how great of an actress she is,” English teacher Val Nafso said.
“Stranger Things” is available on Netflix. “American Horror Story” airs Wednesdays at 10pm on FX. Grey’s Anatomy is on Thursdays at 8pm on ABC. “Pretty Little Liars” will be on Netflix next year.
