Film Club Makes It Premiere
Film Club Makes Its Official Debut at Troy High
Every year, a large amount of clubs start up as the school year begins.. One club that hopes to become a staple is the new Film Club. Meeting on Wednesdays in room 241, the club watches and analyzes different types of films.
“What we do is we watch all sorts of films starting from classics, to short films and cartoons,” president and co-founder, senior Yunsoo Kim said. “What we do is analyze the individual details of the movie and also the plot in general.”
Senior Nerissa Wang, co-founder and vice-president of the club, said the idea for the club developed after she watched a movie with Kim.
“It actually started out as a simple conversation between he and I after we watched Wonder Woman,” Wang said. “We kept talking about stuff we both did like and didn’t like and thought, ‘why not make this into a club where everybody can speak their mind?’”
According to Kim, everything done in the club has a purpose.
“We wanted to recreate the experience you would have from an 11 AP or a 12 AP class, which is not given to a lot of students,” Kim said. “Through showing the film we are trying to also interest them to those deeper thinkings and literary analysis. We wanted to share that experience with everyone.”
