Everything Everywhere All at The Oscars
Recap of the biggest night in Hollywood.
On March 12, the 95th Academy Awards celebrated the return to the movies after the COVID-19 pandemic. The awards ceremony was hosted by third-time host Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel honored the leading films of the year in jokes made during his monologue. He joked about the measures put in place after the incident last year between Will Smith and Chris Rock.
In January 2023, the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences revealed the nominees for each of the 26 categories. Leading the pack with the most nominations was “Everything Everywhere All at Once” with 11 nominations, “All Quiet on The Western Front” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” had nine apiece; these two movies were closely followed up by “Elvis” with eight nominations. The nomination leaders continued to dominate the awards night.
“Everything Everywhere All at Once” was the winner in seven categories including Best Picture, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Michelle Yeoh, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Ke Huy Quan, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Jamie Lee Curtis, Best Original Screenplay, Best Directing and Best Film Editing.
