Troy High Takes DECA Regionals

The announcer walked up to the stage and immediately the crowd’s murmurs quieted. Hundreds of high school students anxiously awaited the results of the District 7 Michigan DECA competition. With 30 schools competing, Troy High’s DECA team managed to win 21 test medals, 16 role play medals and have 44 out of the 47 DECA members qualify for the State competition. This is a record breaking percentage for Troy High’s DECA team. Last year’s DECA team also had many of its participants make it to States, but even then it was nothing close to the 94% of students who made it this year. This year, the State competition will be held in the COBO center in Detroit and Internationals will be held in Nashville.

“I am so beyond proud of all my students,” marketing teacher and DECA advisor Heidi Rosenberg said. “We have never done this well and I am so excited to do this well States and take Nationals.”
