The school store, Colt Connection, has implemented various changes for this coming school year. It opened on Oct. 25 with changes such as cheaper prices, new apparel and a new variety of snacks including ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese. Personalized water bottles, pens, earbuds, EOS lip balm and bumper stickers are also new additions.

Despite these new changes, the Colt Connection must continue to abide by the federal calorie counts. As a result, they can only offer their full product line two days a week. On these “noncompliant” days, advisor Elena Wollborg reports that sales drastically increase to account for selling almost 600 Otis Spunkmeyer cookies over the span of three lunch periods.

“Our cookies are definitely our most popular item,” senior Sema Khraishi said. “It can be really stressful though when people are demanding that I make the cookies faster but I can’t make the ovens hotter.”

In addition to offering classic treats such as cookies and candy, the store is selling school supplies such as notebooks, folders and post-it notes. If students realize they forgot something for class, it’s available. Plus, in response to student demand, Nike clothing is now offered. Colt Connection has debuted three different Nike hoodies and a quarter zip.

Additionally, Wollborg said that if any student—regardless of whether or not he or she is a worker—has suggestions, she’s happy to hear them.

“When it comes to selecting the clothes, although I make the final decision, the students in the class have a lot of creative power,” Wollborg said. “I just throw a bunch of designs in front of the students, and we discuss them together.”

Khraishi says that the joys of working for the Colt Connection outweigh the stresses that come with them.
“We have so much fun,” Khraishi said. “I love seeing all the people who come in, and I love working with my friends.”
