A Sweet Experience in Metro Detroit

A one-of-a-kind chocolate village experience makes a stop at Oakland Mall.

On March 16, 2023, Fever’s Choco Town opened its second ever immersive-experience in the Oakland Mall in Troy, Michigan. Choco Town is described by visitors as a ‘Willy Wonka themed’ village, where visitors tour the mystical chocolate town, treating their senses to the smells and tastes it has to offer. The chocolate tours are led by actors who bring the experience to life, guiding visitors through the twists and turns of the maze-like layout. Choco Town’s immersive experience teaches the history of chocolate, how we taste chocolate and how our other senses can affect how we taste it. Guests can also discover their ‘chocolate personalities’ while on the tour. Tickets are $20 and include a fully guided hour-long tour, fun riddles and puzzles to solve and free samples along the way. This experience is also filled with many unique photo opportunities for the digitally-inclined!

The village includes fun stops such as BonBon Boulevard, Gummy Bear Spa, Candy Carnival and the Choco & Sons Butcher Shop. Nearly a week after its grand opening in Metro Detroit, visitors have expressed their overwhelming delight after visiting Choco Town. Marlaina J, a local travel guide, shared her thoughts on the experience. In a review posted to Fever, a global entertainment discovery platform, she rated the experience five stars. “Such a fun interactive experience for all ages. It was fun finding your Chocolate personality, wandering thru the different sections and trying all the yummy samples. Great date night or family outing if you have kids. Don’t miss the Chocolate Salami or the Cafe.”

Many reviewers stated they felt like there was a lack of chocolate samples, but overall enjoyed their experience and proceeded to give it a five star rating. In multiple reviews, guests shared their enjoyment with not only the experience, but with the cafe and gift shop as well. Many parents shared they brought their children for a fun time, but believe they ended up enjoying the experience more themselves. The chocolate tour has a lot to offer for all ages, and Fever claims they want to make their experiences accessible and enjoyable for every guest.

This experience is only available for a limited time. Choco Town wraps up its stay in Metro Detroit on April 23. Fever offers limited traveling interactive experiences, known as Fever Originals, regularly. Their mission is to “democratize access to culture and entertainment” and make fun accessible to everyone. They’re most famously known for their ‘Candlelight Concerts,’ which are tributes to artists in both the past and present. More examples of their recognizable experiences are “Stranger Things: The Experience” and “Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience.”
